I'm so sorry I have to be out again. You will be starting artifact analysis Wednesday, October 13 and continuing on Thursday, October 14. A few notes-- PLEASE READ: (1) You will be completing the slideshow under "Your work" entitled "Artifact Analysis 21-22". Open the slideshow in Google Slides, and work on it there.  (2) You will be doing two artifacts in two days.             --On Wednesday, please choose the first artifact from the LEFT section of the back of the room (even though these are not ones you dug up). These are artifacts we know can be scanned.  (If there aren't enough to go around, take one from the right, and do one from the left the next day.) ** The bags with the artifacts might have other objects in there that were used for scale last year. Please remove the markers, sticky notes, binder clips, etc that are not the artifact. You can make a pile of these on my front bookshelf.**            -- On Thursday,  you can choose your next artifact from the right section of the back of the room. Choose one that your team dug up if possible. If not possible, no problem, just choose one not being used. (3) You and your lab partner EACH do your own artifacts. You will need to share the triple beam balance. (4) Get yourself a metric ruler or measuring tape from the front of the room to do your measurements. Be sure to measure in centimeters, NOT inches. (5) When observing the hardness, stretchiness, etc. remember that describing your item as harder than some object and less hard than another is a good way to narrow things down. You can use the objects we used in class to help you. You can find a picture of them here to remind you:https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1yGI0cFyF7_K8_cpAIEianuYz07OTI6QDU55gNHAxcpM/edit?usp=sharing (6) Block magnets are on my front whiteboard, up top. Please ask a teacher to move one down for you and then replace it on the whiteboard when you are done with it. (7) Once you have made your observations, then do your drawings. Pay attention to the required parts. The paper to do this is on the standing desk. You will take a picture when you have finished the drawings, and upload to the slideshow. (8) The rubric (found under "your work" ) can be used as a checklist for you, but I will be using it to grade you as well. If you're not sure about something, check with a classmate to see if you can figure it out.  You will need to stay very focused to get this all done. Have fun being the dig scientists!! :)
